My converter was trashed. Kevin took all my info of my car and engine. Raced at Firebird Raceway this weekend. My car has never hit the tires so hard and launched so consistently in all the years I've been racing and the mph is incredible for my SBF on race gas. Bracket Racing. Update : I’m waiting to hear back from Hughes Performance on getting it shipped back to them . I’m not sure where to start .. I was told Hughes was the place to go .. they sold me a transmission that cost me almost 5k with converter .. 4l80e HD . 1000hp rated. Nothing but issues since it has been installed . I haven’t even driven it 10 miles yet . The converter hasn’t worked right since first drive . The shifts are so harsh u think rear end is falling out . The converter does not want to engage once warmed up . Leaving me stuck not being able to go into gear .. I have done all the steps that the tech at Hughes has recommended and after going back and fourth with them a different tech which apparently is also the one who runs the whole store told me to drop the pan or pull it and have them look at it . They will pay for shipping . At this point I feel like selling my whole project I’m so disgusted . There is no guarantee I will get my transmission back fixed or a new one or money back and they want me to go pull it all out my car and send it back and wait to see what they say !? This is a brand new transmission and I’m out almost 6k !!! On top of this I just found out my mom has cancer this morning. Thank you for making my day even better by telling me I’m basically screwed out of 6k and stuck with pulling this trans to have I look at to determine if it’s my fault from installing incorrectly or if it’s the builders fault. . Leaving me absolutely no guarantee. Thought whole reason I bought from Hughes was to have peace of mind knowing I would have a good transmission .. I was wrong obviously. I might have been a little upset with the tech I spoke with I admit , but I’m just an average Joe and it took me along time to make all that money .. now I have a nova I can’t drive ..should of kept my turbo 350 with shift kit . Lesson learned .

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO WITH ANOTHER SHOP: We did a lot of research before choosing to have Hughes build our transmission for our 73' Roadrunner Hellcat Redeye build. We paid a lot of money for this performance transmission. Needless to say, if we could leave 0 stars, we would. Once we got the tranny installed, there was an issue with it shifting into reverse. It kept jumping out. We informed Hughes of this issue and we pulled the tranny out and brought it back to them as they said they would check it all out. They said they found no issues and sent us on our way. Once again, we re-installed the transmission, same exact issue. We went round and round with them on what could be the issue and remove the transmission again and brought it back to them again as they said they would make some adjustments and have multiple people go through it from top to bottom, including the owner. We picked it up, once again installed it - same exact issue. We again went round and round with them, still no resolution. Months later, we pulled the transmission out for a 3rd time, but instead brought it to another transmission shop. Got the transmission back, and lo and behold - it shifts perfectly into reverse and has not had one issue at any of the gears. I think it's odd that Hughes says they went through it twice and found no issues, but another shop was able to get it working right away. We are an auto repair shop and have done a good amount of business with Hughes. Never again. We are so disappointed at their lack of knowledge and inability to resolve what seems to have been a quick fix. We will never recommend to anyone. Apparently, they are NOT the best in the Valley.

These guys took me right through of upgrading my 68 Chevelle from a 400 to a 4L80e. Everything fit properly using the existing cross member and the earlier case with the trans cooler lines up front where the existing ones were . The Speedo tail shaft let me hook up my existing Speedo in the car also. They also built the trans with a manual valve body eliminating the need for the computer . The lockout converter and overdrive made it cruise along at 1500 rpm down the highway at 60/70 mph with a 3/50 gear. And the first and second gears launch the car out of the hole just as good if not better then the 400 trans. Trans showed up 2 weeks early with everything I needed very well packaged. I’ve heard about these guys for years but today was my first time dealing with them. Nice walking into a shop, especially with as crazy as the world is currently, and every guy in the place was laughing and had a smile on their face not to mention the service was excellent overall. Great product and great guys and we will definitely be using them again and again in the future.
